My father told me that when he was a younger man paying for the services of a chiropractor or medical doctor was by donation in a box on the wall or by exchange of goods or services like chickens, pies, canned fruits, washing of windows, etc. Times have changed and while if I were hungry I probably would not refuse an nice piece of apple pie the fees are now set and can be paid via all the methods people have come to expect for convenience.

Office Fees

  The office fees are $70.00 for an initial visit and $45.00 for a subsequent visit. I extend a benefit to children who are still in grade school. Since they are not able to make the financial decision regarding necessary chiropractic care for themselves I offer fees of $40.00 for an initial visit and $30.00 for all subsequent visits. I hope this will allow more parents to proceed with the essential wellness care their children need.

Payment Options

  We accept cash or cheque and can process debit card, Mastercard, and Visa. If you choose to pay by cheque then please be aware that your cheque may not be deposited and cashed for 2-4 weeks depending on when I get around to doing a deposit. You will have to account for the written cheque in your bank balance until it is cashed. Cheques that are returned to us because of non-sufficient funds in the respective account are your responsibility and will be charged a NSF fee.

Insurance

  The major insurer for British Columbians is the Medical Services Plan (MSP) provided by the Government of British Columbia. If your net income is below $20,000 then MSP does provide limited 'sickness' coverage for chiropractic care. This is called Premium Assistance and I honour that benefit by accepting the MSP payment of $23.00 directly and billing you the balance of $47.00 for the first visit and $17.00 for subsequent visits. MSP stipulates this coverage to be for 10 visits per calendar year. This coverage also is grouped in with acupuncture, massage therapy, naturopathy, physiotherapy and non-surgical podiatry services. This means that you receive 10 visits amongst all of these services per calendar year not 10 for each of them.

  MSP likes to call itself health insurance but they can't fool us can they. If you really look at the Plan it provides services only for when you are sick. Health and wellness care is not covered. Most people don't know that even an annual checkup is not covered by MSP unless there is a disease/dysfunction to be investigated. That is why I call it the MSP 'Sickness' Care Plan. If you are serious about maximizing your wellness then you need to understand that MSP will not do this for you. MSP is designed to work when you are sick. I am not saying this is wrong or right. As the one time Canuck who wore #44 was fond of saying, "It is what it is".

  WorkSafe BC is the worker's compensation plan for British Columbians. I accept cases and the fees that are approved by WorkSafe BC. Coverage is normally for a maximum eight week period but can be extended by approved request for extenuating circumstances on a case by case basis. Since approval of WorkSafe BC cases can take several weeks my office policy is to charge you my regular fees and when the case is approved I will reimburse via a cheque immediately.

  You do not need a referral to see a chiropractor for a WorkSafe BC case. You can only see one health professional at a time and whoever you see first after your incident is in charge of your case. Therefore if you want chiropractic care at my office for a WorkSafe BC claim then you must consult here first before your medical doctor.

Health on a Budget

  At Lansdowne Chiropractic we're convinced that a small amount of your time and money to care for your most important asset--your health--will be far less time consuming and expensive than trying to recover it. If you feel you do not have enough time or money to take care of yourself, please contact us--we can help!  The last thing we want is for you to come to our wellness center in crisis. So please, we would like to encourage you to take your health very seriously.  As the old saying goes, "If you don't have your health, you don't have anything".  Unfortunately, too many people don't discover how true that statement is until it is too late. Then you will find out that another old axiom is true, "There are only two things that you can't get back once they are gone - time and your health.". Use both wisely!
